Obstructive sleep apnea

Obstructive sleep apnea happens when the soft structures and airway in the deep throat collapse and become obstructed, stopping air admission inside lungs.

Airway locking reduces the oxygen reaching the brain and the body. At this point, the brain informs the airway muscles to squeeze up in order to release air admission.  This locking process and clearing of the airway causes a significant sleep interruption and provokes loud snoring.

The most usual obstructive sleep apnea symptoms are:

- Loud snoring.
- Disturbed sleep.
- Repeated breathing interruptions.
- Irritability or  personality change.
- Drowsiness during the day.
- Lack of concentration and short memory.

Obstructive sleep apnea is a health issue leading sometimes to high blood pressure, heart disease  and even to death.
